James NorrisStaff at Wadewitz Elementary School are rallying together to host one more fundraiser to help support the family of a man shot to death in March.

James Norris, 37, of Racine, was working as a delivery driver for the Steak and Lemonade Restaurant on March 25 when he was gunned down while making a delivery in the 3900 block of Green Street. When they arrived on scene, they searched the neighborhood and located Norris suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to Wheaton Franciscan St. Mary’s where he later died.

Norris was the father of four children and his wife Stacy is blind and unable to work. Two of the children have severe special needs.

According to the event page on Facebook:

“James “Jimmy” was a loving family man and worked very hard to provide for his family. He was the sole provider due to his wife being legally blind and unable to work. The staff members at Wadewitz have organized many fundraisers and are doing one last fundraiser to help the family with various future expenses.”

A spaghetti dinner will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at Buona Vita Pizzeria Restaurant, 3701 Durand Ave. The cost is $10. A silent auction and 50/50 raffle will also be held.

Here are some of the items collected for the silent auction:
  • Baby basket
  • Summer basket
  • Cortese gift certificate basket
  • Mario gift certificate basket
  • J and N tanning
  • Rosie gift certificate
  • Scentsy baskets
  • Limo bus for 3 hours
