Boy Charged In Robbery, Knocking Down Toddler

A 17-year-old boy is accused of knocking down a two-year-old boy and taking a woman’s purse.

Anthony Boyden Jr., 17, of Racine, was charged by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office on Wednesday with manufacturing/delivering marijuana, robbery with use of force, physical abuse of a child, and six counts of bail jumping. The charges involve two separate incidents: Aug. 23 and April 11.

If convicted of all charges, Boyden faces up to 37 years in prison and/or fined up to $130,000.

According to the criminal complaints: A friend of Boyden’s came to give him a ride. When she picked him up, the woman’s two-year-old son was in the back seat of the car and pulled out $800 out of her purse. She put the cash back inside her purse. Boyden told the woman he needed to go back inside the house and she followed him, taking her purse and her child with her.

When they returned, Boyden attempted to take the purse. During the altercation, Boyden threw the child to the ground and yanked the woman’s purse off of her arm, breaking the strap. The woman didn’t chase Boyden because she needed to take care of her child.

The woman suffered bruises and scrapes on her arm. Her son had a split lip.

Boyden was out on bail  for possession of marijuana  on April 7.

In a separate incident that happened in April 11,  Boyden bought 6.6 grams of marijuana from a confidential informan in the 3900 block of Lincolnwood Drive.
