The party didn’t stop for some at Party on the Pavement.
Darian Larsen, 30, of Racine, found out the hard way that you can’t walk around with a beer outside at 1:30 a.m. Learning this, the man caused a disturbance. He also cursed and threatened to harm the arresting officer’s family.
Larsen was charged by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office with threatening a family member of a law enforcement officer, possession of marijuana, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest. If convicted of all charges, Larsen faces up to seven years six months in prison and/or fined up to $22,000.
According to the criminal complaint, Larsen was walking in the 200 block of Main Street at 1:31 a.m. Saturday with a beer in his hand. An officer told him he couldn’t have the open intoxicants outside. Larsen set the bottle down on the street, said it wasn’t his and walked away. The officer then picked up the bottle and emptied it on the roadway.
Larsen later returned and ask him where his beer was at. When the officer explained that when he left the beer and that the officer emptied out the beer, Larsen got angry, bumped into another person and started swearing.
“Larsen then proceeded to get into the other patrons face and muttered something to him. The unknown patron then grew agitated,” according to the complaint.
Stepping between Larsen and the patron, the officer told Larsen to leave. But as he was doing so, Larsen started yelling and cursing about the police and caused a disturbance as he tried to walk into Ricky’s Bar. The officer told him to stop, but he kept walking and the officer detained him by directing him to the ground. As the officer tried to handcuff Larsen, he began to scream and resist being arrested.
While being taken to the hospital, he continued to threaten the officer’s family and said he was going to beat the officer.
“Larsen was disrespectful to hospital staff as they were trying to check him for injuries. Larsen continued to swear multiple times after the doctor asked him not to and continued to refuse treatment. Larsen also stated that God would smite me for what I had done to him,” the complaint reads.
By the time he got to the jail, Larsen continued to yell and kick the back of the paddy wagon. Having to be removed from the metals room, he then became disorderly again and told the officer that he was racist.
Larsen is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 11.
