A man is accused of bringing cocaine and his two small children to a meeting with his probation officer, according to the Racine County District Attorney’s Office.
Robert Swearengen Sr., 34, of Racine, was charged with possession with intent to deliver cocaine (greater than 1 gram but less than 5 grams), second and subsequent offense, and maintaining a drug trafficking place.
If convicted of both charges, Swearengen faces up to 24 years in prison and/or fined up to $35,000.
According to the criminal complaint, Swearengen had a meeting set with his probation officer. Investigators with the Racine County Sheriff’s Department had warrants to search his van. He tried to hide the van by parking it around the corner from the probation office. Officials searched the van and found nine individually wrapped baggies of cocaine that weighed 2.5 grams.
When confronted, Swearengen told investigators that he started selling cocaine about a month ago and he had it in the minivan along with his two small children when he drove to the probation office, according to the criminal complaint.
Swearengen is being held on a $1,000 cash bond. A preliminary hearing has been set for 8:30 a.m. March 1 in Racine County Felony Court.
