A 22-year-old Racine woman faces four felony charges of first-degree recklessly endangering safety with the use of a dangerous weapon after police reported to Marquette Street for a report of shots fired.

Each of the felony charges filed by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office Monday against Sharday Sharee Ford carries a fine of $25,000 and 12 years, six months in prison.

According to the criminal complaint:

Officers with the Racine Police Department responded on June 21 to the 1300 block of Marquette Street, where they observed that a gunfight may have taken place. Multiple shell casings were found in the roadway, and two homes had been struck.

Video surveillance showed a white sedan with someone leaning out the window. The sedan, a Buick Regal, later was determined to be registered to the defendant.

Ford admitted she was in possession of the vehicle the day of the incident, June 21, but gave police conflicting statements. She later admitted there had been a male in the backseat who she referred to as “TayTay,” and would not provide more information.

Police spoke to another passenger in the vehicle, who stated she didn’t know who the male was and that he was going to shoot the gun.

Police charged Ford after they determined she was a willing participant in the shooting, which could have resulted in numerous deaths.

Ford is due back in court July 11 for an 8:30 a.m. preliminary hearing.
