Due to the extreme weather conditions, Amtrak has canceled train originations to and from Chicago on Wednesday, January 30, 2019. This includes short-distance corridor trains and long-distance overnight trains. On Thursday, January 31 short-distance trains are also canceled, and most long-distance services to or from Chicago are not expected to originate on January 31.

Amtrak operates 55 trains daily to and from Chicago. Trains that originated on Tuesday, January 29 or previously will complete their trips to and from Chicago. Only Amtrak Midwest services for the two Missouri River Runner round-trips between Kansas City and St. Louis are scheduled to originate on Wednesday and Thursday.

Travelers should check their train status on Amtrak.com or smartphone apps.

Those with reservations on trains that have been modified will be accommodated on trains with similar departure times or another day. Amtrak will waive additional charges for customers that want to change their reservation during the modified schedule. Call the reservation center at 800-USA-RAIL.

Travelers can subscribe to automated email or text message notifications if Amtrak trains are running late at stations. Notifications can be delivered for up to six trains and stations by text or email.
