RACINE – Motorists will need to find alternate routes when a portion of heavily-traveled Goold Street closes for a long-term construction project starting Wednesday (March 16).
The City of Racine announced that Goold Street, between North Main Street and Douglas Avenue, will be closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic. The roadway construction project, involving about 0.7 miles, is expected to run through the end of August.

The intersection of Goold and Geneva streets will remain open to limited traffic until the end of the school year. All other intersections will be closed requiring north-south traffic to use North Main or Douglas. There will be “some incremental openings” of Goold intersections as the project allows, the city reported.
A posted detour for Goold’s east-west traffic will use Yout Street. Motorists are asked to follow the detour signage.
