CALEDONIA, WI — A Delavan woman is facing numerous criminal charges, including stalking and repeated violations of a harassment injunction, according to a criminal complaint filed by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office.

Chelsea Michaelson, 29, has been charged with six counts related to harassment and bail jumping stemming from incidents that occurred in March and April of this year in Caledonia. The charges include three counts of harassment injunction violations, one count of disorderly conduct, one count of misdemeanor bail jumping, and one count of stalking, which is classified as a Class I felony.

The complaint details a series of encounters where Michaelson allegedly violated a harassment injunction by contacting and attempting to approach a man and his girlfriend. The injunction, issued in late December 2023, explicitly prohibited Michaelson from contacting the man or approaching his residence.

Stalking, harassment reported multiple times

According to the Caledonia Police Department, on March 5, 2024, Michaelson reportedly made several unauthorized phone calls and left voicemails for the man, which directly violated the court order. The situation escalated in April when Michaelson allegedly drove to the man’s residence, made physical threats, and, on one occasion, even made contact using her vehicle door during an altercation with the victim.

“The universe” told her to “contact (the man),” Michaelson reportedly stated in one of the voicemails played by the man to the officer. Despite being presented with evidence of these calls, Michaelson denied making any contact.

As the complaint details, officers noted another alarming occasion, “(The man’s girlfriend) observed the defendant get out of her vehicle, and walk around the property… (the man’s girlfriend) was fearful for her safety due to the defendant’s mental state and constant stalking.”

The complaint further reveals that Michaelson’s actions violated the injunction and occurred while she was under bail from previous charges related to similar stalking offenses involving the same victims.

The complaint notes that during her incarceration following these incidents, Michaelson made jailhouse phone calls instructing her mother to contact (the man), pushing for a resolution that would involve marriage.

Michaelson could face substantial fines and a significant prison sentence if convicted of all charges. The stalking charge carries a potential penalty of up to three years and six months in prison, along with a fine of up to $10,000.

Held at the Racine County Jail on a $5,000 cash bond, Michaelson is expected to appear in court for a preliminary hearing at 9 a.m. on May 2 in front of Racine County Court Commissioner Alice Rudebusch.
