RACINE — A 25-year-old man was found unresponsive in the water on Saturday, June 22, at Quarry Lake Park in the Village of Mount Pleasant. According to the Racine County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the scene at approximately 1:27 p.m.

Emergency response

Mount Pleasant Police Department officers were the first to arrive and immediately began CPR. Sheriff’s deputies arrived shortly after and continued life-saving efforts.

Despite their combined efforts and assistance from the Racine Fire Department, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigation ongoing into Quarry Lake Park death

The Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Bureau is currently investigating the incident. Preliminary findings suggest that the man’s death may be the result of a medical event. The identity of the deceased has not been released pending notification of family members.

Sheriff Christopher Schmaling expressed his condolences, stating, “Our thoughts and prayers go out to this young man and his family during this difficult time.”
