A young boy was hit by a car shortly before 6 p.m. Sunday the 200 block of Ohio Street near Westway Avenue just north of Lockwood Park.
According to a press release from the Racine Police Department, a 7-year-old was struck by a car at 5:53 p.m.
Sources tell Racine County Eye the child is a boy who darted out into traffic while he was with a friend. They were reportedly standing on the curb with the boy ran into the street.
His condition was serious enough to request Flight for Life to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, the release confirmed. The child’s condition was unknown at the time the release was sent to local media.
Ohio Street was blocked off while Racine police officers and Racine med units responded. The accident is not considered criminal, but officers are still investigating.
