A teen accused of taking money from a Caledonia McDonald’s restaurant is facing prison time for taking almost a $1,000 when he was on the job, according to a criminal complaint by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office.
Darieon Lampkin, 17, of Caledonia, was charged with 21 counts of felony personal identity theft – business setting and 21 counts of misdemeanor theft-business setting. If convicted of all charges, Lampkin faces up to 141 years nine months in prison and/or fined up to $420,000.
Lampkin is being held at the Racine County Jail on a $5,000 cash bond.
According to the criminal complaint, the manager of the McDonald’s restaurant, 5125 Douglas Ave., called the Caledonia Police Department after she discovered that Lampkin had taken almost $1,000  in cash from their drive-through cash register from Aug. 31 through Sept. 9. He took the cash by creating a refund and using a manager’s pass code to authorize the transaction, but there was no real customer that was involved in the transaction.
A video showed Lampkin putting in the pass code to get access to a refund screen and two receipts being produced, which are produced when a refund is given out to a customer. About a half hour later, Lampkin took the cash out of the register.
A preliminary hearing has been set for 9 a.m.Sept. 30 in front of Racine County Court Commissioner Alice Rudebusch.
