No one was injured, but a home sustained significant damage during a fire Tuesday evening at 915 Hagerer Street.

Manuel D. Cruz Lira, the homeowner reported that the attic was on fire at 6:32 p.m. Fire and rescue personnel from the Racine Fire Department responded to the home, according to a press release by the fire department.

“At this time the fire is under investigation,” said Lieutenant John Magnus. “The house received extensive smoke and water damage. That’s what causes the most damage because the house needs to dry out and the need to strip out all the flooring.”

The estimated loss is $150,000.

The Racine Fire Department would like to remind residents to have a meeting place established if you have an emergency inside of your home.
