RACINE, WI – Two people were injured in a fire that happened at 3:30 a.m. Thursday at a residence located at 1223 10th Street, according to officials with the Racine Fire Department.

When fire and rescue personnel arrived on the scene, they found flames from the back of the building. Two people — who had been burned — were standing outside. Rescue personnel transported the two victims to Ascension-All Saints Hospital where they were treated for their injuries. As this was happening, fire crews entered the home.

The home was under construction and the fire spread throughout the building.

“Due to safety concerns, fire crews exited the building and continued their efforts from the exterior until it was safe to reenter,” according to the press release.

The damage is estimated at a $200,000 loss. The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation.
